When planning your summer activities, you might want to take into account that Charleston, SC, will be right in the middle of the path for the Solar Eclipse on August 21, 2017.

A total eclipse occurs when the moon comes between the sun and earth and completely hides the sun. This is due to happen around 6:45 pm on August 21, 2017. A partial eclipse takes place when the moon partially blocks the sun. This will happen for about an hour and a half before and again for an hour and a half after the total eclipse, as the moon moves away from the sun. According the website http://www.eclipse2017.org/ this is the first total eclipse to cut a path across the entire continental United States since 1918. And we are in it’s path!
