Smashing Success on the Courts for the BIFMC

Seabrook Island Tennis Players raised $4,747 for The Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic at their annual fundraiser on Wednesday, March 8.   Co-Chairs Pat Tallman and Kathy Bruce organized an all-day event with men’s tennis matches in the morning and ladies’ play in the afternoon followed by a wine and cheese party and raffle to round out the day.

Dr. Charlton Davis, co-founder of the non-profit medical facility on Maybank Highway, and clinical staff members, Dr. Richard Ulmer, Brenda Falls and Wanda Lefler, provided the tennis players with updates on the variety of medical healthcare services provided by the physicians and nurses who volunteer at the clinic. Over “400+” patients from Johns, Wadmalaw and James Islands visit the clinic on a monthly basis and this number continues to grow. The staff members applauded the SI Tennis men and women for their generosity through the years, making it possible for the BIFMC to continue to care for the uninsured adults residing or working on our islands.

March 8th was a great day for the Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic made possible by our island tennis community that “talked with their racquets and played with their hearts.”
