The Region’s Most Esteemed Automobiles Convene for the Second Annual Cars on Kiawah.
Over 200 exceptional automobiles owned by collectors throughout the Southeast, will be showcased at the 2017 Cars on Kiawah on Saturday, May 6 from 10:00am-3:00pm at the unparalleled setting of Kiawah’s scenic Ocean Park. This premier car show is open to the public and admission is free. Major sponsors of the event include the Town of Kiawah Island, Kiawah Island Real Estate, the Kiawah Island Golf Resort and the Kiawah Island Community Association.
The well-rounded display will offer a thorough history of the automobile with exquisite examples of powerful engineering and meticulous craftsmanship. As Master of Ceremonies, local celebrity Tom Crawford of ABC New 4’s Lowcountry Live will dive into the intriguing stories behind many of the displayed cars, as he interviews owners throughout the afternoon.
Of note this year is “a great display of local “rat rods,” a category that has no rules other than cool, fast and very creative,” remarked event Co-Chair Bruce Stemerman. “We are also featuring a Best Woman-Owned Car trophy in recognition of the growing interest by women in vintage and classic cars. Our objective is to appeal to a broad audience, including younger folks for whom this may be their first exposure to the hobby. All in all, it will be a very fun day.”
Charleston’s favorite food trucks, including new-on-the-scene Semilla and Momo Gastrotruck, along with Crave Smokehouse, will offer fuel for attendee’s appetites.
Rick Hendrick Alfa Romeo will showcase the sleek new Giulia Alfa Romeo cars, in addition to with several other special displays, including a complete private collection of 1962 Honda 305 Dream motorcycles.
Along with Cars on Kiawah, the Kiawah Island Motoring Retreat is hosting a Sea Islands Motoring Tour on Friday, May 5. The drive will begin at Freshfields Village and progress through Kiawah, Johns and Wadmalaw Islands, ending with a lunch at the Charleston Tea Plantation.
