Town Expresses Opposition to New Proposal for Offshore Drilling

An Executive Order recently issued by the Trump Administration would return areas of the Mid- and South Atlantic to consideration for offshore oil and gas drilling.  On May 23, 2017, Town Council passed a motion authorizing the Mayor to write to the Governor and Congressional Delegates about the Town’s position on this.  The letter re-states the Town’s 2015 opposition to offshore drilling in our region and expresses concern about the Order’s less stringent standards for marine safeguards and environmental protections.  Click here to view Mayor Ciancio’s letter.
