Major flooding continues throughout the Island. It may be receding, but with a high tide late tonight, driving on Seabrook Island Road is not safe.
Berkeley Electric intends to send crews out early tomorrow morning to assess the damage to their equipment. They will advise us as soon as they can about the time it will take to restore power.
We have asked the Charleston County Sherriff to prohibit entry to Seabrook Island from sundown tonight 11 September until one hour after sunrise tomorrow. They are also prohibiting entry onto Kiawah.
We have requested Charleston County Engineering to inspect the culvert over the creek outside the circle to determine if its structural integrity has been compromised.
Continued flooding will put additional pressure on the sewer system. Limit sewer use, including toilets to the greatest extent possible.
Drinking water is still good.
