Town of Seabrook Island Issues Hurricane Update

TOWN OF SEABROOK ISLAND Hurricane Irma UPDATE No. 9

Date 10 September 2017 Time 9:30 pm

St.Johns Fire District (SJFD) has confirmed to the Town that Engine 702 will be removed from the Seabrook Island Fire station. SJFD is also repositioning Apparatus on Kiawah Island so that SJFD will have 3 resources close to the front of Seabrook if necessary and additional back-up of two units coming from Station 5 (River Road).

With planned closure of the SIPOA security gate from 10am Monday to 8am Tuesday, the Town has requested Charleston County Sheriffs to restrict traffic to Seabrook Island. Sheriffs deputies will be stationed at the Freshfields traffic circle and will allow vehicles through to Seabrook Island that display a SIPOA bar code or visitor pass. Others who have a drivers license with a Seabrook Island residence address will also be permitted to pass through. Contractors will not be allowed through. Traffic delays are to be expected with this temporary process for access control. Residents are asked to be patient with and courteous to the deputies on duty.

For emergency response, call 911.
