TOWN OF SEABROOK ISLAND Hurricane Irma
Date 12 September 2017 Time 9:00 am
Seabrook roads are passable, but messy. We have water and sewer. Extra generators are being installed to maintain the sewer system, but conservative use is requested.
We do not yet have electrical power. Berkeley Electric has crews on Seabrook and advised us that power is likely to be restored in stages, but cannot give us definite timing at this point. The area toward the Club and Spinnaker will take the longest to restore.
Damage appears mainly due to flooding. Wind damage appears to be less than we had from Mathew, but flood damage may be worse.
Main Road and Bohicket Road are open. Residents who evacuated should use their own judgement about returning.
POA is beginning road clean up. POA is not allowing contractors on the Island other than those engaged in road clean up. However, property owners who have contractors doing mitigation work to prevent further damage to their structures should call in a gate pass, if possible. Otherwise make sure the contractor can provide to the security guard your name and address and confirm they have been hired by you to do mitigation work.
For emergency response, call 911.
