Turtle Patrol Helps with Irma Clean Up

As a part of the Turtle Patrol’s daily walks on the beach throughout the Sea Turtle nesting season, Turtle Patrol Members scan the beach for trash (especially plastics) that wash up or are discarded by beachgoers.

So even though the turtle nesting season ended just before the storm surges ofHurricane Irma, Turtle Patrol members decided to extend their season a bit and help clean up after the hurricane. Several members walked the beaches and picked up trash in the days immediately following the storm.

On Friday, September 15th, Patrol Leader Terry Fansler along with Gayle Evans and Anne Snelgrove covered the entire beach in the Turtle Patrol truck surveying the damage and removing trash. They also took pictures of our beach after the storm.
