Town of Seabrook Island Winter Weather Advisory Update

Date: 4 January 2018

Time: 3:00 pm

Representatives of the Town took part in a Charleston County conference call at 3:00 pm on 4 January. National Weather Service reported that by 7:00 pm this evening, the temperatures are expected to drop below freezing. The low temperatures tonight will be in the middle teens. Tomorrow’s temperature will get above freezing between 11:00 am and noon. Tomorrow’s high temperature will be in the upper 30’s with full sunshine, and will fall into the teens tomorrow night.

Charleston County Offices will be closed tomorrow, along with all public libraries, landfill and recycling facilities. The Charleston County Public Works Department announced that all bridges are in “pretty good shape,” and that work on secondary roads will begin in the morning 5 January.

Town of Seabrook Island will remain closed 5 January and reopen for regular business hours 8 January.

We continue to encourage all residents to drive only when absolutely necessary, particularly when the temperatures start to drop, as the roads are expected to re-freeze during overnight hours.

Representatives of the Town expect to participate in a Charleston County conference call at 10:00 am 5 January and a further update will be issued thereafter.

For emergency response, call 911.

Property owners with rental guests should forward this notice to their rental guests.
