A City of Charleston Council meeting to discuss a proposed six month moratorium on the issuance of development permits for residential development on Johns Island will take place today at 5:00 pm at The Schoolhouse at 720 Magnolia Road in West Ashley. That is near Gerald’s Tires and Triangle Char and Bar.
Approximately 4.200 more homes are to be developed on Johns Island over the next 10 to 20 years, doubling its population. The moratorium would not affect already permitted developments but would temporarily stop the issuance of new permits in order to allow for city staff and the public time to assess and prioritize the island’s infrastructure needs in light of current and projected growth.
