He’s back ….. and this year he has brought some of his clients, friends, and fellow business owners to break last year’s record of raising $8,800 for Backpack Buddies. This year’s goal is $22,000.
Last year, Mike Gorski, owner of Island Transportation, launched this project to raise additional funds for the Backpack Buddies Chili Cook-off. He is back with friends for this year’s Chili Cook-off on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the Bohicket Marina.
The Chili Cook-off benefits Backpack Buddies Seabrook Island and the Backpack Buddies Group of Kiawah Women’s Foundation. The 2 organizations are both 501(c)(3) nonprofits whose mission is to feed local, hungry school children on the weekend and during school holidays. We are currently feeding close to 400 local children.
Mike has commitments from 11 local businesses to donate $1,000 each to collectively secure $11,000 of matching funds that will be used to match the donations dollar-for-dollar made by the residents of Kiawah and Seabrook Islands.
This year, the following companies have committed to provide the $11,000 matching fund. They are: Island Transportation Services, Coastal Getaway of SC, Kiawah Cares, Kiawah Partners, Timber Resorts Kiawah, Dolphin Architects and Builders, Fipps and Sons Auto Center, Pam Harrington Exclusives, NV Realty Group, Pelican Development and Wells Fargo. We thank Mike and these companies for their generous contribution to the cause.
That’s right! They are matching dollar-for-dollar your donation! It’s a win-win for the Backpack Buddies’ programs on both islands.
Making a donation is very easy. Just call Mike Gorski at 864-316-3894 and tell him your donation amount. He will provide the details for the different ways that you can make payment.
Thank you in advance for your support.
