Photography Club Meeting

Photography Club Meeting will be held on April 19 at 6:30 PM at the Lake House.

The topic will be “Advanced Techniques: Taking Your Photos to a New Level”, presented by

Guests are Welcome with a $10 fee.

An exuberant presentation geared for photographers and enthusiasts of all levels. Many topics will be exemplified using images of wildlife, flowers, landscapes and photographs in various locales including Italy. Techniques such as high key/ low key featured in Pamela’s recently published article in Outdoor Photographer magazine will be discussed. The talk will infuse personal viewpoints on “sensible” usage of software manipulation and natural ‘in camera’ methods such as “painting with your camera”. By the conclusion, viewers will be aware of factors important in creating photographs that prove a major image and how to raise the standard of those images.

Pamela Cohen – Prima Photography
Pamela is a professional landscape/wildlife photographer and owner of Prima Photography. As a biologist and photographer, she incorporates knowledge of nature and blends it with competency in photography to create stunning images.

She has studied in the field under the guidance of National Geographic photographers, including Frans Lanting and Galen Rowell, recognized as two of the finest landscape and nature photographers of the recent era. Pamela’s passion for travel has transported her to many sites, favoring Italy; Venice being a teaching workshop location. Images from various portfolios serve as restaurant decor in New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina.

Her work has been seen in the prestigious Butler Institute of American Art. Gallery installations include, “Southern Coastal Italy, Sicily, and the Aeolian Islands” in Ohio and “Visions of Life and “Intimate Nature” in South Carolina.

She has won many photographic awards, including Nature’s Best Backyards, with the image,“Tree Frog on Wild Iris”. August 2016, Pamela was recognized as a semifinalist in America’s Top Photographer. Her photos grace the walls of homes as well as businesses. Her magazine contributions are to Outdoor Photographer, Legends, Connoisseur, Camera in the Wild, and Naturally Kiawah.

Currently, Pamela is a lecturer, teacher, writer, and book illustrator, with images appearing in the literary award winning book: “ The Curious Mister Catesby: A “Truly Ingenious” Naturalist Explores New Worlds. Having served on the Board, her life scientist instincts create strong support of the Kiawah Island Natural Habitat Conservancy which promotes preservation of the environment. Membership affiliations are with the North American Nature Photography Association, Carolinas’ Nature Photography Association, Aububon, Charleston Artist Guild, and the Kiawah Island Photo Club.
