The Town of Seabrook Island issued the Beach Patrol Report at their meeting last week. It covers the period from 4/1/18 until 6/17/18.
Interestingly, the most violations (116) were for glass on the beach. It is important to remember that if the glass breaks, tiny shards might not be visible, but yet would pose a hazard for people walking barefoot as well as birds and all that live in the ocean.
About 12% of the leash law violations were in the critical habitat area. Although not a large number, it is still too many disturbances for the birds using that area as a nesting spot or resting place on their journey south.
