TOWN OF SEABROOK ISLAND HURRICANE ADVISORY

Tropical Storm Florence is expected to reach hurricane strength over the weekend (8 – 9 September) and may impact Seabrook Island in 4 to 5 days as a tropical storm or hurricane. In line with the South Carolina Emergency Management Division, Charleston County Emergency Management Department raised its readiness status to Operations Condition 4 effective Friday, 7 September.

Mayor Ciancio has raised the Town’s emergency readiness status to Operations Condition 4 and ordered that the Town monitor weather conditions and take preparatory measures in accordance with potential for emergency or disaster conditions to affect us.

All property owners, renters, and guests should review and be ready to implement their hurricane preparedness plans. Suggested plans are set out in the Town’s website at townofseabrookisland.org under “Emergency Preparedness” at the website home page.

Early evacuation is a good idea.

Any resident who may require assistance with evacuation or who knows a resident they believe may require assistance with evacuation should that become necessary is asked to contact the Town (843 768 9121) during regular business hours to provide name(s), address and contact information.

Property Owners with rental guests should forward this notice to their rental guests.

The Town expects to issue its next update concerning Tropical Storm Florence early afternoon on Saturday, 8 September.
