35th Annual Alan Fleming Tennis Tournament – Oct 3-7

The 35th annual Alan Fleming Senior Open Clay State Championship will be held on Seabrook Island October 3 – 7, 2018.  This premier event is held at the Seabrook Island Racquet Club.   Over 200 players from around the county in various age groups will be playing in this South Carolina Level 1 State Championship and southern level 200 point tournament.

The tournament, recently named, “best tournament of the year” by visiting players is free to spectators and open to the public – no ticket required.  Spectators are invited to watch great tennis and enjoy a free beer.  Play begins on Thursday morning with finals on Saturday and Sunday.  Games start at 9 am and are staggered throughout the day.  The last game will end at approximately 5 pm.

2Raffle tickets for a range of prizes may be purchased at the Racquet Club.   Proceeds go to a local charity, The Blessing Basket, a program of the Sea Islands Hunger Awareness Foundation (SIHAF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization mission.  SIHAF supports charitable food-related organizations that feed the hungry and provide well water to those who do not have fresh water on Johns and Wadmalaw Islands.  SIHAF has no employees and distributes virtually 100% of the money raised to needy families.  Once a month, The Blessing Basket provides a basket of food, enough for seven meals, to approximately 400 people below the poverty level.  For more information about the foundation, please visit www.FightIslandHunger.org.
