The 2019 SINHG Evening Program schedule begins on Thursday evening, January 10, at 7:30 pm, with “The American Revolution In The Lowcountry”, presented by author and historian Joe Epley. A key component of the War of Independence in the Carolinas was controlling access to Charleston, with Seabrook, Kiawah and Edisto islands all playing a role. At least one important confrontation between British and American forces took place at what is now the intersection of Bohicket and River roads.
Joe Epley retired from a long career in public relations fourteen
years ago to Tryon, North Carolina, where he began researching and writing about the American Revolution. He is the author of the historical novel “A Passel of Hate,” which was awarded a Silver Medal by the Military Writers Society of America and was named as an Editor’s Choice by the Historical Novel Society. His latest novel, “A Passel Of Trouble,” centers on the activities a British Loyalist during the war in North and South Carolina.
Seabrook Island residents and their guests are welcome at SINHG Evening Programs at the Lake House. There is a $5 charge for non-SINHG members. Evening programs will continue in February with “Living with Primates,” presented by Dr. Shirley McGreal of the International Primate Protection League.
