Plunging into 2019!

The Seabrook Island Swim Club hosted the 3rd Annual Polar Bear Plunge at North Beach on a beautiful, balmy, 68° New Year’s morning. With so many people on the beach, it almost felt like summer! The sun found its way through the clouds just as splash down occurred at 10:30 am when a large and enthusiastic crowd made its way to the shoreline. As the countdown concluded, more than 50 hearty swimmers plunged into the chilly Atlantic, some quickly returning to warming towels while others lingered in the surf. A bonfire and hot chocolate awaited both participants and supporters!

As the photos convey, it was a terrific morning on the beach and a good time was had by all. Thanks to Nic Porter, Jamie Mixson and the Lake House staff for their support of this event and thanks to all who made the plunge or cheered them on!
