Seabrook Islanders Rock the Dragon Boats

Dragon Boat Charleston March 2019

Seabrook Islanders never stop looking for ways to help others.  On May 4, 2019 Seabrookers will take to the waters of Brittlebank Park in an effort to help cancer survivors and their families deal with their challenges as part of the 12th Annual Charleston Dragon Boat Festival.  Twenty-nine Seabrookers have only two practice dates before they hit the starting line so it will be challenging but fun.  There will be music, food trucks and plenty to see for participants and spectators alike.

Seabrook Island Dragonslayer March 2019Dragon Boat Charleston is part of an international effort to redefine cancer survivorship by promoting mental, physical and emotional health for cancer survivors and their families.  For the first time this year the Seabrook Island Dragonslayers will be competing against as many as 60 teams of 20 paddlers from all over the southeast to gather to raise money and awareness for this cause.  The Seabrook team has already garnered corporate sponsorship from eight local businesses and numerous individuals.
