Get Ready for RiverDogs Baseball Beginning in April

Get ready for the start of baseball season in Charleston and come out and cheer on the RiverDogs baseball team!

The Charleston RiverDogs are in the class Single-A South Atlantic League and an affiliate of the New York Yankees.  They play in the Joseph P. Riley Stadium, also known as “The Joe.”  “The Joe” sits near the Ashley River and catches the breezes from the river and adjoining marshland.  It has been rated one of the best stadiums in the minor league and collegiate level. (The Citadel baseball team plays there as well.)

The home opener is Thursday, April 11, 2019, against the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

Four things to know if you are going to “The Joe.”

  • Purchase your tickets online to avoid the long lines at the ticket window.
  • Sit on the first base side, out of the sun.
  • Go with an empty stomach; the hotdogs are as good as you remember from your home team stadium.  They also have a wide selection of beers.
  • You might see Bill Murray there.  Not only is he an actor, but he is a co-owner of the RiverDogs as well as their Director of Fun.
