On Saturday, May 4, 2019, the first-ever Seabrook Island Dragon Boat Team, The Seabrook Island Dragonslayers, will compete against 60 other teams in the 12th annual Dragon Boat Festival at Brittlebank Park in Charleston. Sponsored by Dragon Boat Charleston (DBC), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the physical, mental and emotional health of cancer survivors through dragon boating, the festival is DBC’s opportunity to raise the capital it needs to fund its various programs to support the cancer survivor community. We invite all Seabrookers to come cheer on our team, which comprises 27 of your neighbors and friends, seven of whom are cancer survivors.
The event is free. There will be music, food, entertainment and the amazing dragon boat races, which will begin about 9:00 am. Donations to Dragon Boat Charleston will be gladly accepted either online, (team name Seabrook Island Dragonslayers) or send checks made payable to Dragon Boat Charleston Festival, to Lois Rinehimer, 435 Double Eagle Trace, Seabrook Island.
