Fight Island Hunger – May 4

Attend the Gullah Celebration on Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at Freshfields Village. Admission is $10.00 in advance or $15 at the door. Guests under 12 are free. Purchase advance tickets at Indigo Books or at Freshfields Village Green on Friday May 3 and Saturday morning May 4.

The Gullah Celebration is the annual fundraiser of the Sea Islands Hunger Awareness Foundation, fighting island hunger with healthy food and clean water one meal at a time.

Enjoy Lowcountry/Gullah Cuisine prepared by Stono Market and Tomato Shed including shrimp and grits, pulled pork sliders with special Wadmalaw Sauce, wings, mac and cheese, tomato pie, peach cobbler, and banana pudding.

Participate in the silent auction by bidding on a wide range of items including “Sweet Margaret” by artist Mary Whyte, watercolors by Marilyn Matthesen, a vacation in Vermont, a week at the Marriott Grand Vista Orlando, jewelry, tools, golf, tennis, services, gift certificates…  and more!

Meet Gullah artisans and authors including Joann G. Brown’s and her sweetgrass baskets, Quadre Stuckey and his paintings and books, Ausar Vandross and his handmade all natural soaps, and Deborah Alston and her handmade jewelry.
