Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch Oct 2019

This annual fall festival draws visitors of all ages from all over the state with a variety of fall attractions, events, activities, and pumpkin patch fun. And of course, there will be plenty of pumpkins available to buy by the pound. Attractions include Corn Maze, Jump Pillow, Giant Slide Tower, All American Petting Zoo, Family Friendly “Monster” Hayride and much more. One admission price includes all attractions.

Sunday 11:00 am – 6:00 pm

Note:  The entrance to this event is NOT through the main Plantation gate. Please use the Hwy 17 entrance.

October is Archaeology Month and to celebrate Drayton Hall’s Archaeologist Sarah Stroud Clarke will lead a landscape walk of Drayton Hall’s extensive historic grounds. On this walk you will visit each of the excavation sites from the past forty years of digs at Drayton Hall and learn about the archaeological finds at each location.

On Friday, October 18, 2019 at 10:00 am, join Drayton Hall’s Manager of Horticulture and Landscape for a walking tour of the historic landscape and garden of Drayton Hall. Eric has completed extensive research into surviving archival resources and the Drayton diaries to establish a deep understanding of the plan, execution, and plantings of Drayton Hall from the time of its completion in 1791 to the present.

Bring the family to Drayton Hall on Saturday, October 19, 2019 for Daily Life at Drayton Hall – Interactive Learning for Kids. Get an inside look at daily life at Drayton Hall in the late 1700s through hands-on activities and talk with interpreters about the many important jobs that took place here. Learn how the Drayton family and the enslaved community lived and worked, how children were educated, how jobs and trades were taught, and more.

  • Walking Tour of Post-Civil War Ashley River Side Features of Drayton Hall’s Landscape ◊ October 25

Curator Cameron Moon will lead a tour of the evolution of the Drayton Hall plantation landscape close to Ashley River, at the back of the main house, on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. She will take the group to areas never before interpreted at Drayton Hall to examine how the land was utilized from the colonial period to the 20th century.

A celebration of beer, bbq, and music at Charleston, SC’s most beautiful plantation event location: Drayton Hall! Please join us on the lawn at Drayton Hall on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 4 pm to 7:30 pm for an exciting and fun evening enjoying craft beer and BBQ with sides. Music by popular local band, Don Merckle & The Blacksmiths. Jamie Westendorff, renowned local BBQ master will lay out an incredible spread perfect along side craft beer.

  • Living History Through the Eyes of the Enslaved ◊ October 5

Magnolia and the Slave Dwelling Project will present “Living History Through the Eyes of the Enslaved” from 10:00 am to 4:00  pm. on Saturday, October 5, 2019. The event will be held at the restored cabins that once housed enslaved workers at Magnolia. People who lived in the cabins helped design and maintain Magnolia’s gardens and later were garden guides after the Civil War. The living history program will include storytelling, brick making, outdoor cooking and blacksmithing. It is free with garden admission to Magnolia.

Magnolia’s “Autumn on the Ashley” Arts and Craft Fair is back again! On Saturday & Sunday, October 12 & 13, dozens of Lowcountry artisans will feature their handcrafted items for sale from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Featured items include wood carvings, paintings, textiles, jewelry, photography, natural skincare, lawn art and more.

Magnolia will also be hosting an Autumn plant sale in conjunction with the Craft Fair. Stop by to purchase your favorites, including Fall planted bulbs, Fall blooming Camellia Sasanquas, Winter blooming Camellia Japonicas, ferns and much more.
