Town of Seabrook Island Municipal Election: Mayoral Candidate – John Gregg

Katie and John Gregg have owned property on Seabrook Island since 1997 and became full-time residents of Seabrook Island in 2006. Katie is employed part-time at Wonder Works in FreshFields Village; John is retired. Prior to moving to Seabrook Island, Katie taught in private schools in Cincinnati and John served as Patent Counsel for a machinery manufacturer in Cincinnati.

Since becoming a full time resident, John served on the Property Owners Association Legal Committee from 2007 -2013; was elected to Town Council in 2013, has served as chair of the Town’s Public Safety Committee since his election to Council and has served as Mayor Pro Tem since re-election in 2015. John was last re-elected to Town Council in 2017 and is a candidate for Town mayor in 2019.

As chair of the Public Safety Committee, John has overseen annual updating of the Town’s Comprehensive Emergency Plan, and has arranged training, exercise and review sessions for the Town’s Disaster Recovery Council to improve coordination of disaster event response of the Town and community organizations including the Property Owners Association, the Club, the Marina, St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center and Seabrook Island CERT. As a member of Council, John has authored articles dealing with emergency preparedness for the “From Town Hall” column in the Seabrooker.
