Dr. Maurice Olfus is a retired U.S. Department of State Diplomat and a certified instructor in the arts of Tai Chi Ch’uan, Ch’i Gong; Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention; and Tai Chi for Rehabilitation. Maurice is the co-author of Tai Chi for Health and Rehabilitation. He started his training over forty years ago under the tutelage of Grandmaster Dennis Brown (Washington, DC). His current teachers are Dr. Jesse Tsao (San Diego, CA), and Dr. Jimmy Dong (Greenville, SC). Maurice also holds the following additional certifications: Personal Trainer, Silver Sneakers/Flex, and CPR/AED.
When not competing, teaching group and private Tai Chi classes, lecturing, or training, Maurice enjoys taking 4-month long world cruises; playing chess; ballroom dancing; reading; writing; and scuba diving (certified rescue diver). And of course, he really enjoys his comic book collection, and watching Cartoon Network!
A people person, Maurice believes that strangers are just friends that we have not yet met.
