We are excited to announce that Seabrook Island Village, Neighbors Helping Neighbors (SIV), a non-profit, volunteer organization, successfully kicked off its pilot program on October 1, 2019.
To date, there are 14 active members. Members are Seabrookers who wish to “age in place” or are recovering from an illness or accident and need some assistance to do so. A cohort of 29 volunteers has been vetted and trained and are now responding to requests for service from members. Services include providing transportation, completing basic home chores, making companionship visits, providing caregiver relief and making reassuring daily or weekly calls.
Do you know someone who is aging in place and needs some assistance to be able to do so safely? Or, are you or someone you know, struggling with activities of daily living due to an accident or illness? If so, SIV is able to help! Applications are being accepted now for participation as a member. Membership is free until December 31, 2019, while we are in the pilot stage of the program. Beginning on January 1, 2020, the annual cost to be a member and access services is $350 for an individual and $650 for a couple. To learn more about the process for becoming a member, contact SIV at 843-580-2088 or visit our website at http://www.seabrookislandvillage.org.
Are you looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity? Would you like to make a difference in the lives of neighbors and make our community an even better place? If so, SIV has just the opportunity for you! Volunteers must apply, be vetted and participate in a training session. Applications continue to be accepted.
