Seabrook Island Genealogy Club Meets November 13

The Seabrook Island Genealogy Club (DIRT) is a great place to start if you have an interest in family history! Our next meeting is Wednesday, November 13
1:30-3:30 pm at The Lake House.

Those with an interest in family history or genealogy have many reasons for pursuing this hobby. Some look to make some sense of family memorabilia that has been passed down from past generations-old pictures, clippings, scrapbooks and other mementos with stories that could be shared with future generations.  Some enjoy the challenges of finding more information about their various families – where they came from, where they lived and what they did.  Others are interested in finding their connection to ancestors who lived in momentous times and served in the military or as patriots in the American Revolution.  At least five of our members have become accepted to Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in the last year, based upon their research and help from other DAR members of our club.

One of the more enjoyable aspects of each meeting of the Seabrook Genealogy Club (DIRT-Digging Into Roots Together), is that our members bring these various areas of focus and many others to each meeting, and we try to explore them as a group, whether we are new to the hobby or have been working on Family History for many years.

Our current club focus is “Beginning Genealogy – How To Get Started and What To Do.”  This is a great way to get started but for those of us that have been involved for some time with Family History, each meeting and topic yields new ideas to pursue and new information to explore. Regardless of our level of expertise, there is always more to learn!

Come join us if you are interested! Our regular meetings are on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 1:30 pm until 3:30 pm at Osprey 2, The Lake House. Feel free to join any of the meetings, bring your questions, your computers and your eureka moments. For more information, link to our website.
