As of 4:45 pm on Friday, December 20, 2019 phone and internet has been restored at Seabrook Island Town Hall.
It appears that we had an electrical surge as a result of a lightning strike at or near Town Hall on Tuesday afternoon. The surge impacted our internet modem as well as the switch that connects all of our phones and computers to the network. Comcast was out on Friday to diagnose the problem and found that all of the output ports from our modem were fried. The main port on our network switch was also damaged. Comcast subsequently installed a new modem and our IT contractor, VC3, was able to find a work around to get the switch back online.
We apologize for any inconvenience over the last couple days.
