It’s been a very long time since we’ve have faced a health crisis such as the current pandemic, but Charleston has a long history of dealing with illnesses. Take a trip into Charleston’s past with the award winning podcast, Charleston Time Machine, by Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) Historian Dr. Nic Butler. Separating the sick from the healthy has been a part of Charleston’s public health policy since 1698. Over the span of 250 years, the laws evolved and have been occasionally contentious, but still controlled traffic into the port.
