SIHAF Launches Online Auction Fundraiser June 1

SIHAF bannerFighting Island Hunger With Healthy Food and Clean Water One Meal At A Time

The need is great, and growing and there is a way you can help!

27% of Wadmalaw residents and 15% of Johns Island residents live below the poverty level. That’s nearly 4,000 people who struggle with hunger here on the sea islands. Founded in early 2015, the Sea Islands Hunger Awareness Foundation (SIHAF) was formed to ensure that consistent and dependable sources of food reach the people in need. This need has grown by leaps and bounds during the current health crisis and with the critical unemployment levels, causing SIHAF to seek increased funding.

The foundation’s annual fundraiser, The Gullah Celebration, traditionally generates funds from sponsorships, donations, ticket and food sales, and a silent auction to sustain the programs and our partners for the year. Plans for 2020 were in full swing receiving pledges from faithful contributors and donations of auction items, when the pandemic hit the lowcountry and the world, ultimately forcing the cancellation of the Gullah Celebration 2020. With 2019-2020 funds running low, we are now proceeding with the silent auction, virtually. We invite you to participate in our Online Auction.
