The Post and Courier recently reported that the new Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal, still scheduled to open in March 2021, will be the first new container terminal to open at a US seaport since 2009. Delivery of five new ship-to-shore cranes will be completed in October.
“The Authority says people will be able to follow the progress of the last three cranes with a crane tracker on their website which will be updated as the cranes travel from Shanghai, China, where they’re produced, to the South Carolina coast.” The terminal is located at the city’s former Navy base in North Charleston.
