Answer the Call

Most of us ignore calls from phone numbers we don’t recognize. Contact tracing is an essential part of COVID-19 containment so if you receive a call from 803-529-1551, answer it. It is the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control. They are calling to tell you that you either tested positive for COVID-19 or you have been in close contact with someone that has tested positive. You may feel fine, which means you either didn’t contract the virus or you could be asymptomatic and can spread it to someone else.

A good suggestion would be to add this number to your contacts so you’ll know who it is calling with what could be lifesaving information.

In an editorial in The Post and Courier, it was reported that as few as 37% of those contacted answered. To read the editorial, click here.
