- Rice and Slavery: The Connection that Made the Low Country ◊ October 11
The prime movers in rice cultivation were enslaved Africans and African Americans who provided the knowledge, technology, and labor to turn this grain into a cash crop. Demonstrations of threshing, fanning, pounding and polishing rice will be presented alongside stories about the importance and impact of Carolina Gold Rice.
