Charleston County has extended the Main Road Corridor Segment C online public information meeting public comment period to Wednesday, December 16, 2020. Don’t miss this opportunity to provide your input and help shape the future of transit on Johns Island.
John Gregg, Mayor of the Town Seabrook Island, has written a letter to recap the importance of this meeting:
I remind Seabrook Island residents of an important opportunity to be heard concerning consideration of road improvement alternatives for Johns Island. In connection with the approval of a Charleston County Transportation Sales Tax increase in 2016, Charleston County Council identified three segments for phased improvements of the so-called Main Road Corridor. Of those, public comments are now being accepted for Segment C, including six alternatives for the area bounded by intersections of Bohicket Road and River Road with Maybank Highway to the intersection of River Road and Betsy Kerrison Parkway. Comments may be made via Main Road Corridor Project Segment C Online Meeting (www.mainroadcorridor.com/segment-c/vpim/) using the online comment form. Information for six alternative road improvement projects is presented, including a proposed new cross-island road (Alternative 3) from the vicinity of the intersection of River Road and Betsy Kerrison Parkway to an intersection with River Road north of the intersection of River Road and Plow Ground Road. Alternative 3 is closest to improvements for which the Town of Seabrook Island has previously advocated. Public comments are being accepted through December 16 and will be considered as plans are developed for improvements of Segment C.
