January Exercise Challenges

The Polar Plunge scheduled for Friday, January 1, 2021, has been canceled. However, The Lake House is offering several other interesting exercise endeavors:

New Year’s Challenges
with Kayleigh Breaux

 Activate Your New Year Challenge:

Start Date: January 1, 2021
Goal: Increase your activity!
Level: Beginner to advanced
Length: 4 weeks
Entry Fee: $10.00

The winner takes all with this New Year challenge! Participants will submit their weekly activity via a provided spreadsheet. The participant with the most activity recorded by the end of the month will receive a cash prize. The more participants the bigger the prize! Grab a friend or make a new one, but keep your safe distance, and start walking, biking, or whatever you enjoy. Let us work together to keep each other motivated and encouraged towards progress. We are going to leave 2020 in the dust of 2021 as we get active, healthy, and stay safe.

Triple Threat Challenge:

Start Date: January 1, 2021
Goal: Strengthen your main muscle groups while growing in consistency.
Level: Beginner to intermediate
Length: 5 days a week for 4 weeks
Challenge: Complete 25 sit-ups, 25 push-ups, and 25 squats in any variation
Double Trouble: At the start or after completing the first two weeks of the triple threat challenge, increase your reps to 50 sit-ups, 50 push-ups, and 50 squats in any variation. If starting it at the two-week mark, aim to complete the increased reps 2-3 days of the 5.
Up the Ante: Complete 70 sit-ups, 70 push-ups, and 70 squats in any variation
Entry Cost: $15.00

Consistency and completion are kings with this challenge. Record the days and amount completed of each exercise. Participants will submit weekly updates. When you register, pick the variation of the challenge you will commit to. At the end of the month, we will tally up who was the most consistent with the variation you chose at the beginning. The top three will be chosen from the contestants. Winners will receive a free t-shirt. First place will receive a cash prize!

Core Strength Workshop:

Workshop Dates:  January 14, 2021, at 1:30 pm and January 16, 2021, at 9:30 am
Goal: Strengthen and improve the endurance of your core.
Class Cost: Free
Level: Beginner to advanced

Core stability and strength are critical for day-to-day activities and functional movement. Learn or refresh your core exercise routine with step-by-step instructions and variations for everyone. Join Kayleigh Breaux as she leads a free 30-minute core strength workshop! Please note, space in this semi-private series is limited to 9 participants.
