Many Warm Coats Donated

One Warm Coat is a national nonprofit organization that provides free coats to anyone in need, without discrimination, and works to create awareness of the vital need for warm coats across the country. Since 1992, One Warm Coat has facilitated the collection and distribution of more than 6.6 million coats.

Michelle Almeyda-Wiedemuth of Seabrook Island hosted a Seabrook Island, SC, One Warm Coat Drive to collect clean, gently worn, or new warm coats and monetary donations. She is delighted to announce that between December 14, 2020, and January 4, 2021,  237 coats were donated and monetary donations equaled $332.00.

The Seabrook Island “community donated coats, scarves, hats, and gloves for men, women, and children. Many of the children’s coats were brand new with tags.” The coats went to two local organizations, Uplift Charleston and the Delancey Street Foundation, where they will be distributed locally to those in need.
