On Tuesday morning, January 19, 2021, a woman was seen in the water off Seabrook Island near Cap’n Sams and was apparently struggling with the current. Calls for emergency assistance resulted in St. Johns Fire District Marine Unit launching their rescue boat into the water and the dispatch of a Coast Guard helicopter. The beach patrol launched a jet ski from Kiawah to offer assistance. The woman was assisted by a kayaker until the STJFD boat arrived. She was ultimately rescued by the STJFD boat and transported to a hospital for care. STJFD did not have an update on her condition at the time of this post.
