TOSI Tropical Storm ELSA Advisory

July 6, 2021 –  3:00 pm

National Hurricane Center (“NHC”)  forecast track update for Tropical Storm ELSA  as of 2:00 pm on July 6 is below. This track forecast reflects little change from the forecast track issued at 2:00 pm on July 5 for Tropical Storm ELSA. The earliest storm impacts in Southeast South Carolina remain possible in the morning on Wednesday, July 7. National Weather Service Charleston posted the following supplemental information concerning the forecast for Tropical Storm ELSA on July 6:

Tropical Storm Watch for entire coast and coastal counties
Main Concern/Impact: Potential for Heavy Rainfall and Flooding Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning

Chances for Tropical Storm Force winds is 10 -30% for South Carolina coastal counties and nearshore Atlantic waters (earliest reasonable time of arrival of tropical storm force winds Is Wednesday afternoon and evening)

HAZARDS & IMPACTS    The threat for the heavy rainfall and flooding has increased. Rainfall amounts could range from 3 – 5” with localized amounts in excess of 5”.  Some tree/limb damage; isolated to scattered power outages.

Residents, property owners and visitors should continue to monitor local media outlets for updates for Tropical Storm ELSA. Forecasts are updated regularly on the NHC website at www.hurricanes.gov. Residents are strongly encouraged to make their preparations for the potential impacts, such as securing/moving unsecured outdoor furniture and other items and having fully charged battery powered lighting and radios together with additional batteries.


In the event of an emergency, please call 911.Emergency calls to 911 should be reserved for life-threatening situations, or for the reporting of a crime or fire. Do NOT call 911 if you have water in your home unless your life is in danger. Do NOT call 911 to report a power outage. Power outages should be reported directly to Berkeley Electric Cooperative.

Property owners and property managers with rental guests should forward this information to their rental guests. Owners and managers of commercial establishments are also encouraged to share this information with their employees.
