New MUSC Medical Facility

The Town of Kiawah Island released the following information about the MUSC Medical Facility that is planned for Seabrook Island Road near the traffic circle:

MUSC Health has announced its plan to build a new 22,740 square-foot medical facility at 1884 Seabrook Island Road. This project was driven by a need for emergency and other health care services in the Sea Islands community based on growth, geographic isolation, demographics, and community health profiles. Construction is expected to begin in August 2022, with an anticipated opening in fall 2023.

The facility will have two components:

  • Freestanding emergency room with four exam rooms, two trauma rooms, fast-track triage, full CT scan, radiology services, complete lab services, direct admission to hospital beds, and a helipad.
  • Medical office building with services for primary care, specialty care, telehealth pods, onsite lab, diagnostic treatment, and physical/occupational therapy treatment rooms.
