Preservation Society of Charleston Fall Tours & Master Series

The Preservation Society of Charleston Fall Tours & Master Series will take place from October 7 through November 6, 2021. The Fall Tours & Master Series offers guests rich and rare glimpses into Charleston, a city defined by its historic architecture, glorious gardens, and diverse cultural heritage. Piazzas and Gardens Tours 
Each Friday and Saturday from 2:00 – 5:00 pm, guests are invited to visit 4-6 houses and gardens in the Old and Historic District. These tours include an informative and entertaining walk along private house piazzas and porches where docents will delight guests with tidbits of architecture, history, and lore. In some instances, guests will be invited behind the garden gate to enjoy some of the finest enchanting private gardens in the historic district. No interiors are included. $75 per person. $65 Preservation Society members. 

Master Architecture Series
Each Thursday from 2:00 – 5:00 pm, a Preservation Society of Charleston staff member or noted expert in their field will lead guests on a behind-the-scenes tour for a rare opportunity to dive deeper into Charleston’s unique architecture and cultural heritage. In most instances, guests will be invited into some of the finest houses. Each tour is unique. $150 per person. $135 Preservation Society members. 

Master Garden Series 
Each Wednesday from 2:00 – 5:00 pm, guests will visit several private gardens not usually open on bigger tours. This series of garden tours is designed for the garden enthusiast and will be led by a landscape architect, garden designer, or professional horticulturist. In addition to visiting some of the most beautiful gardens in the country, guests will also learn about subjects ranging from Charleston’s rich horticultural heritage, its diverse and rich flora, and the latest gardening trends. $150 per person. $135 Preservation Society members. 

Master Photography Series
Each Friday from 9:00 am – noon, photographer Richard Spencer will lead a small group of guests through Charleston’s French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods, alleyways, and hidden paths to capture some of the most charming and picturesque vignettes. All levels of photographers and types of cameras are welcome. $75 per person. 

Master History Series: Morning Walks and Talks 
Led by Certified City of Charleston Guides, this series is for those wanting to delve deeper into the historical events and people that have shaped our city. Hear facts about architecture and people whose fascinating stories made Charleston what it is today. See website for a complete schedule as offerings differ from day to day. Walking tours are approximately 2-2.5 hours in length. $35 per person. $30 Preservation Society members.
