Big Rock Partners, developer of the luxury senior living facility at Freshfields Village, has notified the town of Kiawah they have closed on the property and received their notice to proceed. In September 2021, they will begin the preliminary site work and construction of the turn lane on Seabrook Island Road. The facility construction phase is not expected to start until later this year or early 2022. That phase will likely have additional traffic impacts on the inbound lane of Betsy Kerrison approaching the roundabout.
Residents should allow more time for travel and expect minor traffic delays on Seabrook Island Road and along the bike path. The Town will provide additional information closer to the facility construction phase.
Seafields at Kiawah Island is a three-story mixed-use senior living property that will consist of 98 independent living residences and 16 assisted living residences, and an array of amenities and services. More information is available on their website at Seafields.com. Big Rock Partners presented to Town Council in April. The presentation pdf is available here.
