The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Tornado Warning for portions of Charleston County in southeastern South Carolina until 12:15 pm.
A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Delemar Crossroads, moving north at 20 mph. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.
Tornadoes from tropical storms or hurricanes can form and move very quickly. If you wait until you hear a tornado it could be too late. Take action to immediately protect yourself.
Stay tuned to your local media for additional information and possible additional tornadoes. Tornadoes are still a potential danger until 10:45 pm this evening.
In addition, the tides will be at their highest level from about 6:30 – 10:30 pm. This will increase the chance of flooding, especially on the roads.
