Seabrook Island Green Space Conservancy (SIGSC)

Dear Seabrook Island Green Space Conservancy Friends and Supporters,

By now, you may have heard about the Kiawah Conservancy’s expansion and rebranding efforts. You might have even recently received their beautiful magazine, Roots. Their work has now broadened to include Johns Island and Seabrook Island, prompting their new name: Conservancy of the Sea Islands.

The missions of Seabrook Island Green Space Conservancy and the Conservancy of the Sea Islands align closely. We are both dedicated to preserving the natural environment through land and easement acquisition, as well as through education and advocacy for the long-term protection of our islands’ natural assets. The Seabrook Island Green Space Conservancy is grateful for the invaluable work of the Conservancy of the Sea Islands and we fully support all conservation efforts.

So, does this change the work of Seabrook Island Green Space Conservancy? It does not. We are fully committed—and we are the only organization solely dedicated to conservation on Seabrook Island. For over 25 years, we have proudly served our community and achieved significant milestones, including the protection of 46 properties encompassing 32 acres through permanent conservation easements. We are deeply grateful to all of you who have supported and contributed to the ongoing preservation of our island.

However, our work is far from finished. There are still over 100 undeveloped lots totaling more than 50 acres, and many other tracts of marshland and high ground representing hundreds of acres. While we cannot conserve all these areas, we remain dedicated to focusing our efforts on preserving as much as possible. Through our education and advocacy efforts we are committed to ensuring that Seabrook Island continues to be the serene, natural sanctuary we all cherish.

As a fully volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are proud to say that more than 95% of all funds raised directly support our environmental conservation efforts. To learn more about Seabrook Island Green Space Conservancy and how you can help, please visit our website at www.sigsc.net.

We sincerely appreciate your on-going support,

The Board of Seabrook Island Green Space Conservancy
