#7: Update Cell Phone Contacts

Now is the time to make sure you have current phone numbers you might need in the event of a weather disaster: family members, friends, and neighbors, your insurance companies, Berkeley Electric Cooperative, Inc., your builder or handyman, the companies from whom you receive regular bills. Update your cell phone contacts and address book.

You might remember that phone circuits were jammed during prior disasters, but text messages worked. If you don’t know how to send text messages from your phone, get one of your children or grandkids to show you how.

If you haven’t already signed up for TidelinesAlert, now would be a good time to do so. Click here for instructions.

Remember, be prepared; stay safe.
