Beach Rules – Peak season beach rules began April 1, 2026.

Spring Shredding Event – TOSI will host a shredding event on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm at Town Hall.

2026 Town Grant Program – The Town is now accepting applications for funding from the 2026 Discretionary Grant Program. The first review of applications will take place on April 22, 2026. For more information about the Discretionary Grant Program, or to download a grant application form, please click here.

Business License Renewal – The deadline for TOSI business license renewal is April 30, 2026. Renewals after April 30 are subject to late penalties. Click here for more information.

SINHG Presents Dr. Jerry Reves, Dean Emeritus of MUSC’s College of Medicine

The Seabrook Island Natural History Group (SINHG) is excited to invite you to a captivating evening with Dr. Jerry Reves, Dean Emeritus of MUSC’s College of Medicine. He will be sharing insights from his recently published book, “South Carolina’s Indomitable College of Medicine: The Bicentennial History”, which celebrates the college’s remarkable 200-year legacy. Discover the impressive journey of the 10th-oldest medical school in America and the oldest in the Deep South!

Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Dr. Reves has deep roots in our community. He attended Gaud School for Boys, Darlington School, and Vanderbilt University, before earning his medical degree from the Medical College of South Carolina. His extensive knowledge of our area’s medical needs and contributions is truly remarkable.

April at the Charleston Museum

There is always something interesting happening at the Charleston Museum. Let’s see what they have planned for April.

Tour de Green Space

On Sunday, April 26, Seabrook Island Green Space Conservancy (SIGSC), in partnership with Seabrook Island Property Owners Association (SIPOA), will sponsor a self-guided bike and LSV tour of our conserved green spaces. You can participate in as many locations as you like—there’s no need to complete them all. The starting point is the at Lake House and check-in will begin at 1:30 pm.

TOSI Discretionary Grant Program

The Town of Seabrook Island is now accepting applications from eligible organizations for funding from the 2026 Discretionary Grant Program.

The Seabrook Island Discretionary Grant Program was established by Town Council in 2026. The Discretionary Grant Program combines and replaces two prior grant programs, the Community Promotion Grant Program and the Environment and Wildlife Conservation Grant Program, into a single program.

The Discretionary Grant Program is intended to support eligible organizations in carrying out projects that advance a legitimate public purpose and provide a direct and demonstrable benefit to the Town of Seabrook Island, including, but not limited to, its residents, property owners, visitors, and/or businesses.

Grant funds must be used to promote community wellness, civic engagement, cultural and historical awareness, economic vitality, environmental stewardship, and wildlife conservation in a manner consistent with applicable law, Town policy, and sound fiscal accountability.

FY 2026 Discretionary Grant Program Summary

Total Funds Available in 2026: $30,000.00
Maximum Grant Amount: $5,000.00
To Apply: Grant applications will be accepted starting April 1, 2026. The first review of applications will take place on April 22, 2026. Applications will continue to be accepted until the earlier of October 1, 2026, or upon the commitment of all available grant funds for 2026. Please refer to the grant application form to view the application deadlines for each committee meeting in 2026.

Reminder: Shredding Event Wednesday, April 8

Free Spring Shredding Event

10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Now is the time to organize your files and discard old, unneeded, or duplicate documents. Gone are the days when we have to keep backup pieces of paper. Most information is now available online and is easy to access.

This is also a good time to go paperless. Many companies, such as banks, credit cards, and insurance companies, offer this service. Not only is it safer, but it can also be helpful when you are away from home. A bonus is using less paper, which is good for the environment!

Since most of your documents probably have personal information, you don’t want to just throw them away. The best way to dispose of these documents is by shredding them.

Refresh on Passwords

It can be annoying to log into an account on your device and have to change the password on a moment’s notice. It is almost as bad when you have to set up an account, and they have different restrictions than you are used to. Hackers have become more adept at getting through the normal passwords, so it may be time to think about how you are going to change a password.

The College of Charleston Technology Team recommends the following:

Use the first letters of a phrase that you can remember, such as Illatb (I love living at the beach).
Use a special character instead of a letter, such as @ for a or ! for i.
Embed the special character within the phrase, such as Ill@tb (I love living at the beach).
Embed numerical characters, such as Ilp22g (use your handicap – I love playing 22 golf).

AARP recommends using spaces between words, such as Hello Lovie Dovie.

Western Michigan University has compiled a great list of password suggestions.

Be creative, but be careful. The key is to make something that feels personal to you but wouldn’t make sense to anyone else.

Reminder: Art Show April 4, 2026

Some of South Carolina’s leading artists will be participating in the Sea Islands Chamber of Commerce’s 16th Annual Art Show just outside of the Seabrook Island gate. The artists are housed under one big tent, and the event is open to the public. This year’s line-up of juried artists includes: Jennifer Black, Sandra Roper, Lisa Willits, Betsy Jones McDonald, Tina Mayland, Cynthia Houston, Elizabeth Middour, Colleen Wiessmann, and Donna Geriner.

Each of the featured artists is well known throughout the region. The show, which is always held the day before Easter, will be from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. The artists will be displaying original work. Visitors will see oils, pastels, and watercolors, in styles from representational to impressionistic to abstract. Some of the artists will also be painting live, so it’s a great opportunity to meet them and see their creative process in action.

Mark your calendars for April 4, the day before Easter. There’s no better way to spend a Saturday than looking at amazing art in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Garden Club Meeting April 10

The Healing Power of Herbs and Other Medicinal Plants

Date: April 10, 2026

Place: Oyster Catcher Community Center

The Seabrook Island Garden Club meeting on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 9:45-11:00 am will be held at the Oyster Catcher Community Center. The presentation will feature Athena Herder, Clinical Herbalist and Founder of Arizkatt’s Herbs. Ms. Herder’s topic is “The Healing Power of Herbs and Other Medicinal Plants.” Come join us to learn about using herbs and other medicinal plants for healing. Members are free, guests are asked for a $5 donation.

Bob LeFevre, a resident of Seabrook Island and Salem, South Carolina, retired from a successful career in business at the age of 55 to pursue his passion…oil painting. Since he was a child, he loved the water and everything related to it. It was natural that his paintings from the beginning would depict scenes of life on and near the oceans and lakes he would visit throughout his life.

Bob’s painting career began when, at the urging of his fourth grade teachers, he was enrolled in private art classes. Here, at this early age, he began to develop his perceptual skills as an artist learning the fundamentals of rendering and depiction of values in a representational way.
