Town Transmits SCDOT Roads Audit

Earlier this year, Seabrook Mayor Ron Ciancio entered into discussions with SCDOT District 1 Engineering Administrator Robert Clark regarding transportation infrastructure deficiencies on Johns Island. As a result of those discussions, Mr. Clark committed to accomplish an operational audit of Main and Bohicket Roads regarding safety, vegetation, and drainage.

The audit has been accomplished, and the Town has transmitted SCDOT’s report to TIDELINES. Anyone interested in the learning more about the roads situation on the Island is encouraged to read this 10-page report.

  1. One obvious omission to the report was a review of guard rails that are needed protecting open ditches . Driving along Bohicket , guard rails are in place along some of the open ditches in somewhat a random pattern . They are installed to protect some open ditches , but many areas have no protection from these open , very deep ditches .
