Safe Home Program Re-Opens July 1

The Sunday, June 28th Post and Courier announced the South Carolina Safe Home program which offers grants to replace roofs in hurricane prone areas. The program, which has limited funding, opens on / about July 1st.  The program is for homeowners who own detached single-family primary residences in need of roof replacement. You can get information on this program at the South Carolina Department of Insurance website (doi.sc.gov).  You can also watch a video of how to apply for a Safe Home grant at sc-doi.civicplus.com/civic-media.

Safe Home roofs are extra strong roofs, meant to be more hurricane resistant.  If you have a roof that is due to be replaced, consider getting one documented to meet Safe Home standards even if you don’t get a grant, because you could get the tax credits and insurance discount.
