Seabrook Organizations and Clubs: Seabrook Island Birders

Seabrook Island Birders (SIB) are residents, renters and guests of Seabrook Island who are interested in learning more about birds. Participants of all levels enjoy walks and activities, both on the Island and off, where new and familiar birds are spotted and identified. Birding by golf cart, birding in a local backyard, and exploring Island hotspots are some of our most popular events. We also go off the Island to visit well known birding locations in the Charleston and surrounding area, seeking out a variety of birds found in other habitats and environments. We participate in local and national events, such as Global Big Day, Christmas Bird Count, and Backyard Feeder Count.

In addition to our varied activities, we also offer interesting and informative educational presentations about birds, their environment, scientific research and conservation efforts. These presentations are given by national experts in their respective fields.

Members of SIB also have opportunities to give back to our community through our various volunteer programs, including our Bluebird Nestbox Monitoring Program, our Shorebird Steward program, and new this year, our Purple Martin program.

We stay in touch with our members through our communications, including a monthly article in The Seabrooker, Tidelines, weekly blogs, daily social media posts, and a fresh, new website providing resources for birders of all levels.

If you would like to learn more about the birds in your backyard, or have an interest in volunteering for any of our events or programs, please email seabrookislandbirders@gmail.com or visit our website.
