SINHG Farm to Table Feast at the Farmers Market

Farm to Table Group    On September 12th, a group of Seabrook Natural History Group members participated in the “Farm to Table Feast at the Farmers Market” tour conducted by Charleston Culinary Tours. They started as a group at the Farmer’s Market in Charleston where they were met by the trip guide, Glenn, and two chefs, Chef Jordan and Pastry Chef Mark.

Steve the Shrimp Man

First they visited Steve the Shrimp Man, then on to the Earl Freeman Farms produce section and then to the Charleston Artisan Cheese House where they had a cheese tasting.  At each stop, ingredients were selected that would be incorporated into a five course “feast.”

After choosing, they proceeded to the selected restaurant, Burwell’s, on North Market Street.
The feast at Burwell’s incorporated all the fresh ingredients selected just an hour before!  The wonderful meal included a refreshing iced drink, soup, hearty salad, main course, palate cleanser treat, and dessert.  Absolutely delicious!

The trip was a huge success. Watch for it in next year’s SINHG trip listings.
