SINHG Tours Charleston Air Force Base

unnamed-26On Tuesday, November 10th, a large group of Seabrook Island Natural History Group members visited the Charleston Air Force Base. The tour began by meeting our guide, Joann Gillespie, at the Aero Club where we boarded a bus provided by the United States Air Force to transport us to the base. The group toured the base facilities, had lunch at the Officers Club, and then toured a mammoth C-17 cargo plane.

Our hosts included Joann Gillespie, Chief of Community Relations, Major Champagne who briefed us on the mission and work of the local Air Force Reserve Unit, the caterer, the bus driver, the Master Sergeant who is a load master, and the C17 pilots. They were all very informative, competent and welcoming. Everyone had a great time!unnamed-28
