The SIPOA Safety & Security meeting was held on January 6, 2016 at the SIPOA office on Landfall way. The following is an abridged summary of the minutes from that meeting.
Chairman’s remarks and discussion:
* SIPOA Safety & Security officer pay has been increased to become competitive with the local industry. The committee’s recommendation for an additional officer will be submitted on the SIPOA annual survey.
* Collection issues involving renters who move between units on the Island without paying rent and Club bills will now be referred to the Johns Island Magistrate for assistance in collections.
* Designated CERT Representative: Beve Baird introduced Jim Eisenhauer as her replacement as the Designated CERT/AED Representative. Jim will be attending all future Safety/Security meetings. The committee acknowledged and thanked Beve for her long term service in that capacity.
Significant incidents:
* Possible trespassing: An owner of a villa reported that someone entered the premises when they were not there. Investigation is continuing.
* A villa owner reported to Security that she was assaulted by her boyfriend. The case was referred to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office for investigation and resolution.
SIPOA Security report:
• Citations: There were 20 citations issued in December which included the following:
– 11 speeding violations
– 1 no license/registration
– 1 parking violation
– 1 trailer violation
– 1 pet law violation
– 3 noise violations
– 2 stop sign violations
